In a joint venture of ANFA (All Nepal Football Federation) and SAFF (South Asian Football Federation) the 10th edition of SAFF Championship was held successfully in Kathmandu Nepal from September 1st to September 11th 2013. Eight top South Asian teams Nepal India Pakistan Bangladesh Afghanistan Maldives Bhutan and sriLanka were part of competition . The Competition was divided into group stages and final stages . In group stages 2 groups of 4 countries each were divided . The winner and runner ups from each group were advanced to semifinals.

The defending champions India were thrashed by The Lions of Khrosans Afghanistan in the most exciting finals by 2-0 lifting up the cup for the First time . The winners (Afghanistan's ) took a trophy and a cash prize of $50000 while the runner up India took $25000. The two semifinalist Nepal and Maldives took 10000 dollars each.

Though the Neplese player couldn't lift the trophy but has certainly raised their place in the heart of Nepali People and Fans. The Nepali football team were supported to full strength in the Dasrath Stadium Kathmandu.

- The team of gorkhas has increased their FIFA Ranking from 172-170
- The Gorkhali team defeated Indian Football team after 20 years.
- Bimal Gharti Magar (15 years) became the youngest player to score in SAFF Championship.
- Nepali team received the FAIR PLAY award .
The team of SAFF Championship is the by far the best Nepali Football team and hopefully will have a great game in upcoming days and win trophies for NEPAL.
